Shakespeare Camp 2017 Session 2 (August 2017)
During our second session of Shakespeare Camp, our campers learned about Shakespeare's life and times, wrote a sonnet, were introduced to The Tempest, made many an art project (including their own costumes), had a shadow puppet workshop, and preformed two scenes from The Tempest. They also created a shadow puppet version of the tempest itself! It was quite a week! Thank you to our guest teaching artist, Jenny Gillett for teaching us all about puppets!

We were thrilled to be asked back to the International School of Brooklyn for their annual Culture Week! The Young Collectives spent two afternoons with 1st through 4th grade students introducing them to the Bard and his beloved comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream" We had a raucous good time with our young Shakespeare scholars. From comically epic death scenes and magical fairy spells, to guessing Helena's favorite color -- these kids were on board! Shakespeare nerds for life after one-hour workshop? Maybe...

Culture Week at the International School of Brooklyn (April 2016)
The Young Collectives spent an afternoon with the students of International School of Brooklyn, taking part in their Culture Week with a fantastic, accessible Shakespeare workshop. We took "A Midsummer Night's Dream" into a room full of skeptical kids, and, as always, left a room full of bonafide Shakespeare nerds. Theatre games, vibrant storytelling, and a scaffolded approach to performance helped our teaching artists do what they do best. We can't wait to see them again next year!
